If you like fine seafood, then don’t miss this weekend in Mar de Santiago. The 29th Mussel and Cockle Festival returns to Vilanova de Arousa with a programme full of cuisine and cultural activities.
The activities will begin on Thursday, with the opening of the tasting tent at 1 pm. Unlike other occasions, this time it will be located in Plaza de O Castro rather than Jardín Umbrío. This space will be open at midday and in the evening, offering the possibility of tasting different mussel and cockle dishes. In order to enjoy these options, you must buy the corresponding tickets at the entrance. Once inside, just hand over the tickets to pick up your order.
Another of the programme’s main features is music, which will fill Vilanova de Arousa with rhythms for all tastes from Friday to Sunday. All activities are admission free. If you love open-air dances, then don’t miss the concert featuring the Panorama orchestra on Friday at 11 pm in Praza do Cabo. Saturday will feature a performance by the Galician band De Vacas, at 10 pm in Praza do Castro.
The programme will end on Sunday with two concerts in Jardín Umbrío. The first one will feature the group Take it Easy at 1.30 pm. The closing act will feature the artist Roi Casal, ambassador of the Mar de Santiago geo-destination and creator of its beautiful soundtrack. The closing concert will be held at 9.30 pm.
Apart from this event, the weekend will also feature a Bargains Market, which will be held in Avenida do Recheo. You will find great bargains in the close to 20 stalls representing local shops (belonging to the Vilanova Centro association) from Friday to Sunday, all day from 10 am to 11 pm. And to round off this festive weekend, festivities will he held in honour of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
So, if you want to enjoy a jam-packed weekend, come to Vilanova de Arousa and explore the other municipal districts that make up our geo-destination: Catoira, Valga, and Pontecesures.
We’re waiting for you in Mar de Santiago!
