  • News

Mar de Santiagonow has its own website! Vilanova de Arousa, Catoira, Valga and Pontecesures welcome you to this space, where you can discover everything you need to know about this sea-river route that gave rise to the Camino.

The Mar de Santiago route runs through these four Galician municipalities, along Ría de Arousa and the Ulla River. We begin at the port of Vilanova, contemplating the beautiful scenery of Catoira and Valga before reaching the river port of Pontecesures.

At this last point, in Pontecesures, the route links up with the final stage of the Portuguese Camino, just 25 kilometres from our destination: Santiago de Compostela. This route features the essence of the Original Way, since it follows the itinerary of the boat that, according to legend, brought the Apostle’s remains from Palestine to Galicia.
