Discover the “Traslatio”
The Mar de Santiago geo-destination offers you a unique experience by means of the “Traslatio”. You can follow the same itinerary that, according to legend, was used to take the Apostle James’ remains to Compostela, sailing along the world’s only river-sea Way of the Cross. We will take you to the original Camino route, which gave rise to the phenomenon of the pilgrimage to the Cathedral.
During the itinerary, you will discover impressive surroundings, enjoying nature along the banks of the Ulla River, its singular estuary, and the mouth of the Ría de Arousa, sailing among mussel platforms. The Mar de Santiago excursion also features explanations by our bilingual tourist guide, as well as coach and boat trips around the region.
Impressive panoramic views
Our itinerary following in the Apostle’s footsteps is a treat for the senses. Your eyes will open in awe with the impressive panoramic views of the Ría de Arousa from the Pedras Miúdas viewpoint in Catoira. You will stimulate your sense of smell and palate during the guided tour of the Bodegas Graanbazán winery, in Vilanova, with a commented tasting of wines belonging to the Rías Baixas designation of origin, accompanied by an aperitif. You will enjoy the soft sound of the water during our boat trip.
We offer you the chance of broadening your knowledge by immersing yourself in Mar de Santiago’s culture, featuring unique sites such as the History of Valga Museum and Pontecesures’ “Casa da Lamprea” (House of the Lamprey). All of this accompanied by a pleasant sail along Mar de Santiago’s waters, with the possibility, during free time for lunch, of touching and tasting the area’s characteristic produce. Do not miss the mussels!
