The square called Praza do Castro, very close to the Mar de Santiago’s port, features the Monument to Ramón María del Valle-Inclán, one of the key authors of 20th-century literature and a most illustrious resident of the fishing town of Vilanova de Arousa.
The monument is a beautiful sculptural ensemble made up of five bronze pieces that are 1.75 metres high. At the centre is a statue of Valle-Inclán himself, surrounded by depictions of scenes from some of his most famous works: Max Estrella and Don Latino, The Marquis of Bradomín, Prince Verdemar, Lucero and Mari Gaila.
