Lamprey Festival in Pontecesures and local food products
Lamprey is Pontecesures’ most emblematic dish. This fish, which has been caught in the Ulla River for hundreds of years using ancestral fishing methods, is prepared in a Bordelaise sauce, a traditional recipe that includes cooking it in its own blood. A food festival is held from late April to early May, when a large tent is set up so that visitors can try different recipes.

Eau-de-vie in Valga
Valga’s local eau-de-vie, which is made in all of the municipality’s parishes following traditional distilling techniques, passed down from generation to generation, is one of the most appreciated in Galicia. A festival featuring this spirit is held at the same time as the Eel Festival, where you can try the eau-de-vies made by the municipality’s best cañeiros.
