Port of Mar de Santiago

The Mar de Santiago maritime station marks the beginning of our own Original Camino. The boats depart from here and sail along the sea-river route as far as Pontecesures; there are large catamarans and small vessels for more private, smaller groups. Its installations also house Vilanova de Arousa’s tourist information office, which is worth visiting to obtain interesting information before beginning the route.

However, this port is also the ideal place for watching the comings and goings of the municipality’s numerous fishing boats, which fish in the Ría de Arousa and further out in the Atlantic Ocean.
